It's a family affair!

We are Elaine and JM Schweizer (that's us at Cape Leveque on New Year's Day 2007). We're a husband and wife team that truly complements each other's talents and skills and we want to offer that to you whether you're looking for just a website or an entirely new look.

Where did you get the name?

It's pretty much Elaine's fault. She had just graduated from university and began working with her mother TR, also a designer. They had been searching for a business name and couldn't find something that fit. Unfortunately also at this time TR's father Emmett passed away, so the pair made the eight hour trek across Texas for the funeral. During that stay each person was allowed a keepsake and Elaine chose Emmett's well-worn cowboy boots. On the ride back home she held a boot up to her own foot and remarked how incredibly skinny they were and that was it. Skinny Feet Design was born and now that TR is retired, we adopted the name to continue the tradition.

Why is so much of the portfolio in German?

That's all thanks to our previous business in Switzerland (the Swiss-German speaking part -- miir redet au schwyzertütsch!) We were freshly married and only visiting Switzerland so JM could introduce Elaine to the family before setting off for Australia. However, JM's dad Hans-Ruedi planted an idea in our heads, namely that we could fulfill JM's vision of a full service agency much easier back there due to a pre-existing network built up over many years. We started off with two laptops in a small caravan and there was no other way but up from there! However, there was a second part to our vision which was to be able to do our work while traveling for half the year. After many trips abroad and seven years passing quickly by, we finally made it to Australia and fell in love with the people and the land. So we decided to make it permanent, went back, sold everything and here we are. We still do quite a bit of work for the Swiss, but all from the comfort of Western Australia.
